NI’s New Brand Unveiled

Asterisk handled design and coordination of global signage reveal

The Asterisk team was delighted to watch National Instruments' executive leadership team unveil the new NI brand at their Austin headquarters today. We've been working with NI's Facilities and Marketing groups since late 2019 to plan and prepare for the reveal of signage that showcases the new NI name, logo, and brand vocabulary developed by NY firm Gretel. The rebrand announcement marks an exciting new chapter in the company's history and the first major change in their brand identity since NI's formation in 1976.

We translated the new brand standards into interior and exterior signage and coordinated same-day reveals at seven NI global facilities in Europe, Central America, and Asia. We collaborated with NI's Facilities team and local fabricator Capital Architectural Signs to produce mock-ups, standardize global color specs, and define fabrication and lighting standards. We then coordinated top-secret installations with multiple vendors around the world — all in a very challenging global context. The Austin campus includes a poured-in-place concrete highway monument, 7’ tall internally illuminated logos on 3 building tops, perimeter vehicular signage, and new logos in all of the campus' lobbies.

The signage development and reveal is part of our ongoing work for NI, including development of graphics and installations for NI's new lobbies and office renovations and a full suite of global signage standards.
